WELCOME FROM OUR CHAIRS
Hello autumn, and welcome to a new season for PRISM, with plenty to look forward to over the coming months.
We are starting the season with Out of the Box, our forthcoming exhibition at the Knit + Stitch Shows in London this October and Harrogate in November. The exhibition brings together an extraordinary range of techniques, materials and interpretations, reflecting the creativity, imagination and diversity of our members.
Each artist was invited to respond to a simple yet thought-provoking challenge: to create a finished piece that fits within a box while exploring ideas that extend far beyond its physical limits. Working across stitch, weave, knit, print, dyeing and mixed media, the artists have responded in remarkably individual ways, exploring themes including memory, personal experience, home, place, landscape and our relationship with objects and materials.
We are also delighted to welcome 19 new members to PRISM following our largest-ever membership application. The New Members Selection Team really enjoyed seeing the diversity of work, practices and approaches represented, as well as reading about applicants’ reasons for wanting to join PRISM and what they felt they could bring to the group.
The level and range of interest was a wonderful reaffirmation of the work that has gone into PRISM over the past year. We are excited to see how our new members become part of the group and contribute to its continued development. You can find out more about them further on in this newsletter.
Finally, on our Blog you can read about a visit to Kim Winter’s studio. Kim uses traditional basketry techniques in innovative ways to create contemporary sculptural pieces, drawing inspiration from structures and processes found in nature. With a strong focus on form and materiality, she enjoys the challenge of pushing the boundaries of basketry to create original forms.

A COLOURFUL REFRESH FOR AUTUMN
INTRODUCING OUR NEW MEMBERS
We would like to give all our new members a very warm welcome to PRISM. We are very pleased to have them joining our friendly and supportive group of artists and hope they will quickly feel at home within the PRISM community.
PRISM is an international exhibiting group of artists who embrace a contemporary fine art approach while drawing on the rich technical traditions of fibre and stitch. Our new members bring with them a wide range of practices, perspectives and approaches, adding to the diversity of the collective and enriching the conversations that take place within it.
We look forward to getting to know them, seeing their work and discovering the connections and new ideas that emerge through their participation in PRISM.
