Georgie Mabel Ralph
London, UK
Georgie is an interdisciplinary artist from Sussex who uses textiles as her core material, exploring textiles' relationship to society and the self, particularly its gendered associations and position in politics. She recently completed her undergraduate degree in Fine Art at the Chelsea College of Arts, UAL, and has begun postgraduate study at the Royal College of Art.
By considering the body in relation to material and scale, or by placing the body directly as part of the work, Georgie questions how we interact with artwork, playing with the idea of performance and audience. The female body remains a core interest for her, with its position in history and contemporary society being a vital point of concern and exploration.
External to her material practice, she makes space for leading workshops and reading groups, which she began when she founded UAL’s intersectional feminism society.
