May 2026 Newsletter

WELCOME FROM OUR CHAIRS

Thank you to everyone who visited our DICTIONARY exhibition at the Art Pavilion, Mile End Park.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our curatorial team, Marian and Marilyn, fondly known as the “M&Ms”, who have once again brought together a magnificent exhibition. Their thoughtful curation allows each member’s work to shine, resonate with one another, and tell the stories each artist wishes to share through their practice.

We were absolutely delighted that Berni Yates, Lead on Knowledge Exchange for the Fashion Programme at Central Saint Martins, opened our Private View.

Berni’s passion for fashion, textiles, craft, and making by hand is truly inspiring. In her talk, she reflected on the importance of practices that may once have been considered “old-fashioned,” and how vital it is to keep them relevant in a contemporary context. She spoke about the ways in which many of our members work at the intersection of textiles, craft, and art—something beautifully reflected in this year’s DICTIONARY exhibition.

A heartfelt thank you to Berni for such a thoughtful and inspiring opening.

We would also like to thank Gary Horsman and his team at the Art Pavilion for their invaluable support in staging our annual exhibition in this beautiful, light-filled venue. Our thanks also go to Tower Hamlets Council for their assistance in securing the Art Pavilion for our London exhibition.

Thank you to Jonathan Dredge for capturing the exhibition in all its vibrancy through photography and videos.

Looking ahead, we are excited to be exhibiting later this year at Knit + Stitch. Our exhibition titled Out of the Box will be presented at both the London and Harrogate venues.

There will be a call out for new PRISM membership in July—watch this space.

With best wishes,

Wolfgang Woerner, Chair
Jane Riley, Vice Chair
