Alex Duncan

Innerleithen, Scotland

Alex is fascinated by the possibilities provided by the infinite range of materials available to the contemporary artist, and loves experimenting with new materials.

Her work frequently takes inspiration from the materials to hand, which often dictate how a piece may develop.

She works in both two and three dimensions, using natural fibres and found objects, as well as home dyed fabric and thread and anything else that she finds in her studio, put together with hand stitching.

She enjoys the process of tackling an abstract idea and working through it to develop a visual approach.   On the other hand she also enjoys making figurative pieces based on landscape, and accepts commissions.
