Yumiko Reynolds

Yumiko is a figurative artist. She has been developing her original technique of “Stitch-Drawings” since she completed her HE Diploma in Stitched Textiles.
Using a sewing machine as one of her drawing and painting tools, Yumiko is constantly pushing the boundaries of stitching and drawing in order to create a new kind of art form with fibre, thread, paper and pigment.

TEXTILE PRACTICE
Since completion of a City & Guild course in embroidery, Yumiko has concentrated on drawing and painting. However, her passion towards texture and textiles led her to take a Diploma in HE Stitched Textiles in 2004/2007. Since then, she has been exhibiting her works nationally and internationally.
She uses a sewing machine and surface manipulation to create images. Her current investigation is into creating human forms and portraits with tonal values. She uses 9 shades of grey threads for stitching and Acrylic inks, paints and pens for painting
