Jayne Everiss

Nature has always been a key subject matter and its exploration through structure and form is inherent in all of Jayne’s work. She attempts to create a personal catalogue of moments, impressions and connections to flora and fauna with a personal language of expression and meaning at their core. More recently she has been drawn to look beyond the details of nature to include the greater breadth of the natural landscapes which she has held in awe since childhood. Layers of colour and surface detail are all used to build a personal response to place and the natural environment.

TEXTILE PRACTICE
Jayne favours working in paper with fabric elements combined using hand and machine stitching. She is regularly looking for ways to incorporate kiln-formed glass and three-dimensional structures in wood and acrylic to bring together less obvious ways of working. Colour is central both aesthetically and for its power of expression so inks and dyes are used for their vibrance and fluidity.
